Our Pool team have done it again!! Beating The Sun B 6-5 in the tightest of finals. The boys started on the back foot, going 1-0 down when Luke Gilbert was unlucky to miss the last pot on what would have been a fantastic clearance. Adam stepped up and was in control from the break off, 1-1! Next was Steve he potted the black but was unlucky to avoid a very tight in-off 1-2. Dom stepped up to make it 2-2 in fortunate circumstances, his opponent snookered himself on the black! Ady was on for the next two frames, he lost both. He was the first to admit he had a bad night. 4-2 down with it all to do. Luke steps up, with massive pressure on his 13 year old shoulders... his opponent snookers him on the black, he manages to escape the snooker and pot the black into the middle pocket. Luke reacted with an outburst of emotion to get the team right back in it! 4-3. Next frame, it was 4-4 before you could get your breath back. Dom with a superb clearance and the game was back in the balance. Adam once again stepped up to the mark to deliver the goods, the team now in the driving seat with a 5-4 lead! Up stepped Steve, who was very unlucky... he had control of the frame until his opponent took out one of the greatest finishes of his life. 5-5. A one frame shoot out! Dom took responsibility and stepped up to play the Sun B's in form man, steve white. The frame began quite scrappy with both players battling for control, the first mistake came from Dom who fouled when trying to play a delicate snooker. Steve came to the table with it all to do but in bizarre circumstances he fouled by moving 4 balls with his cue. Dom had two visits to clear the table, he just had to hold his nerve to stumble over the winning line! He did just that and the boys were crowned Huntingdon Pool League knockout cup champions.

That capped a remarkable debut season for 147, because the team took a clean sweep of all the trophies on finals night! Luke Gilbert won the huntingdon pool league singles, Dom Cooney won least defeated player and the team won both the league and cup! Congratulations lads, and long may the success continue!!!!
